After winning the Oscars for Best Picture and Best Director for Parasite, South Korean director Bong Joon Ho took a six-year break between films. Ho ended his hiatus earlier in 2025 with the release of his sci-fi comedy Mickey 17.
The Batman‘s Robert Pattinson stepped into the title role as Mickey Barnes, a man who is willing to give his life for the opportunity to travel in space. Because his only alternative on Earth may be a very permanent death.
In space, however, some version of Mickey is guaranteed to live on. As the expendable member of the crew, Mickey gets the most dangerous jobs on the mission. Each time he dies, Mickey is cloned again with most of the memories of his past life.
It’s almost a form of immortality until Mickey 17 comes along. He’s the clone who didn’t die, and that’s going to cause some problems on the mission.
Just over two months after Mickey 17‘s debut in theaters, the film finally has a streaming premiere lined up on Max.
When Is ‘Mickey 17’ Streaming on Max?
Warner Bros. Pictures isn’t giving much advance notice for Mickey 17‘s streaming debut, but the good news is that it’s a week from today. Mickey 17 will have its premiere on Max on Friday, May 23. On the following night, Mickey 17 will have its first screening on HBO on Saturday, May 24 at 7:40 p.m. EST/4:40 p.m. PST. After that, it will have numerous other airings on HBO and its satellite channels.
Will ‘Mickey 17’ Be Available on Other Streaming Services?
Eventually, yes. Warner Bros. has deals with several streamers to lend out its content, including Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime Video. How soon that will happen remains to be seen. For now, its exclusive streaming home will be on Max.

Pattinson’s costars include Naomi Ackie as Nasha Barridge, Steven Yeun as Timo, Toni Collette as Ylfa Marshall, Mark Ruffalo as Kenneth Marshall, Patsy Ferran as Dorothy and Cameron Britton as Arkady.
Although Pattinson plays multiple Mickeys, he only gets credited once.
Mickey 17 will stream on Max on May 23.
