It was announced earlier in the week that both Koby Brea and Otega Oweh were invited to attend the NBA draft combine. Now, Kentucky Wildcats center Amari Williams has an invite of his own: to the G League Elite Camp per John Chepkevich of Draft Express.
The camp lets players show what they can do in front of NBA personnel, and has resulted in late invites to the combine. That’s certainly the hope for Williams, who would like to play his way into the NBA.
Williams definitely has the size that NBA teams covet. He’s big, strong, and uses his size well. He’s also a terrific passer and facilitator, but he struggles to finish at times, and doesn’t shoot the ball well.
There could be a team out there that sees potential in Williams and thinks they can develop his offensive game. If so, he can be a solid player in the NBA. He’ll try to show what he can become May 9th through the 11th.
